Lead Them to Your Site
To make affiliate marketing commissions, your advertising must lead your target market directly to your website.  The goal is to actually warm them up to the sale, instead of immediately asking for the sale.  If you immediately ask for the sale, you are missing on a lot of people that simply need time to make up their mind.  After closing the window, the chances of them remembering where they saw your ad is minimal.

Generating a List
When they reach your site, they should first be directed to leave their information with you.  It could be that you offer them a free report or an article about a topic that is pertinent to the products you are offering.  The reason you want to create a list is that when you come upon another product you wish to sell, you will know that this person has already shown an interest in other products you’ve sold. 

Getting Quality Traffic
Your affiliate marketing commissions depend on your ability to drive quality traffic to your site.  Instead of spending time on ten different methods of marketing, concentrate your efforts on one area until you can consider yourself an expert.  Once it is delivering a good amount of quality traffic, move on to another strategy, to again, become an expert on it.  This will allow you to make the most of your marketing and start generating more quality traffic to your own business
