Work from home moms are a truly unique breed. They are women who have been able to master the difficulty of balancing family and work all in the same place. Unlike moms who have a separate work environment that keeps things like laundry, lunchtime, and play dates off the schedule, those who are able to earn income from home have found something that many of us want.
Many moms who stay home and still earn an income still use babysitters. They may not use them every day or all day but there are still a few people on the babysitting list for those times when work requires extra attention. Most moms working from home also have a set schedule so that they can accomplish everything they need to in one day.
There are all kinds of different ways to stay at home and earn a living. Some work for companies, some build their own businesses, and others are private individuals for piece meal hire. Successful women are able to make sure that they are happy with what they are doing to earn their income so that they can focus on it with their whole heart when it’s time to work.
Others have defined their terms differently. They have partners who take the kids in the evening while they work. There are those who have brought in someone to help out with the housecleaning, as one woman can not do everything all of the time. Reasonable expectations, and being able to switch gears quickly, are also qualities of successful moms that are holding down the fort while also making money.
There is an adjustment period when you make the transition to working at home. It’s not usually seamless and there are plenty of days when a broken arm or the flu impedes one’s ability to focus on work as much as perhaps work requires. When your office is at home sometimes you have to be able to choose a few extra hours behind closed doors instead of unwinding with TV programs or even time together with the significant other.
Most work from home moms are able to create the right balance for their family and still retain a high quality of life. Without a quality of life, parenthood and work become a chore and it won’t be long before the office away from home looks good again.
