Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by admin.

Whether you are disabled, have a long distance to commute, or simply prefer to stay at home with your children, the opportunities to work out of the home are endless and the benefits are many.  The following are just three at home business opportunities for those who want to work from home:

Answering Service

One of the best at home business opportunities available for those who prefer to earn their income from home is an answering service.  Any business can easily fit into your target market.  With the advances in communications technology, setting up phone lines in your home is easier than what most think.  Your income is earned by taking messages for a variety of businesses and you may be able to add in the options of emailing, faxing, or texting the messages to the business.  Pay will vary according to the services you provide, but many of the answering services charge as much as $1.00 per phone call or message taken.

Freelance Writing

Another option for those with good writing skills is freelance writing.  Well written web content is in high demand for businesses who want to grab the attention of their target market.  While it may not be the easiest work to get into, once you establish yourself, you will find the income can be high and the work both interesting and fun.   To get started with this type of work, you will find there are many online classes that can help you brush up on your writing skills.   Pay may start out as little as $.01 per word for a beginner to as much as $1.00 a word for an advanced writer.

Medical Transcription

Another one of the at home business opportunities that is growing more popular is medical transcription services.  The individual who want to pursue a career in this area will find that training in medical terminology is necessary.  However, many of the training courses also include job placement help when the training is completed.   The pay can range anywhere from $200 a week to $500 a week, depending on how many hours you wish to work and how many clients you secure.

Planning For Football Season Is The Same As Planning For On-line Business Success

Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by admin.

By: Gerald Zimmerman

I know. You think I’ve lost my mind. Comparing the game of football with owning an on-line business? Ridiculous!

But wait. Take a moment to think about it. Planning, teaching, practicing, repetition, building, implementing.  All are found in both.

OK.  I confess.  This is not an original thought.  As a part-time job, I drive a school bus taking kids and coaches to games and special events.  Last night, I was with a high school football team (Spring Training) and they travelled to a local college to watch the team work out. It was a learning time.

The kids had a great time, and I’m sure they learned a lot.  But I learned even more as I listened to the 3 coaches sitting directly behind me discussing the upcoming season, still  5 months away!  They discussed making a plan, working the plan, tweaking the plan, teaching the plan, practicing the plan, implementing the plan, and then after the plan is tried and tested, changing the plan to work better.

What a great analogy of the on-line business world. Without a PLAN, nothing happens. If you start a brick-and-mortar business and invest thousands of dollars into it, I can almost guarantee you that you will have a business plan, not just thought about, but written out, in detail. In fact, there are people who specialize in writing these plans, and the cost of them can be absurd.

These plans list and describe every possible component of the new business. They go into great detail of every department, every possible scenario, every unthought of possibility. The owner of the new business has a well thought out PLAN to help in making the decisions that will govern his new venture and make possible its success.

If a brick and mortar new business goes to these lengths to plan out their business, explain to me why having an on-line business should be any different. Maybe we don’t have to be as detailed in our plan, but we definitely need a plan.

Things like: financing the new business; advertising; physical space; website appearance; will employees be needed; work scheduling; naming our business and website URL; and the list goes on.

Again, it doesn’t have to be completely detailed, but we need to have some idea of where we are going, how we are going to get there, what it will take to arrive at our destination, what moves we will make to achieve success, who we will ask to be our mentor, how we will schedule our time, what we will do when disaster strikes, and so forth.

Those 3 high-school football coaches behind me were talking in those terms. Even at this early date, they are looking at their competition for this year, analyzing how their coaches are thinking, developing plays that will befuddle the competition, looking at every aspect of the game, looking at their own personnel and already mentally  placing them in key spots to achieve their goal – which is the state championship.

All of our activity and thinking should be aimed at winning also. Winning in business means profit. Profit means a better life for us and our families. Winning is better than losing.

Steven Covey wrote: “Once you have a clear picture of your priorities – that is values, goals and high leverage activities – organize around them”.

Tips on Managing Stress When You Work From Home

Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by admin.

By: Stephanie Ly

Most people believe that by starting out an online home business and working from home, they will be able to lead an easier and relaxed lifestyle than their current 9-5 job. While this may be true, as there are many benefits of a work from home job, you should not be disillusioned and should be still aware of the stress and pressure that can exist while working from home. Often these stress factor relate to the financial investments you have made and the time and effort required at the beginning to build a solid home business. Here are some tips to help keep those stress levels down:

Be Organized
When you work from home, it is imperative that organization becomes a big part of your life. This includes being organized in both your business and your home. Not only will a clean and organized home and office help you to concentrate, it will allow you to have more time to relax, as each day it will take less time to clean up and prepare for the next day.

Schedule Time Off

When you work from home, you are in control of the hours and days you work. Often many people put more time and effort into their online home business and tend to work more hours each week than if they worked outside home. Remind yourself that it is okay, and even crucial, that you take time off and give yourself a break from cyberspace. The important thing is that it will give you time away from the business and to give your mind time to relax.

Eliminate any distractions

You will soon find out that there are many “distractions”, such as the TV, that can interfere with your work and you may find it very difficult to concentrate on what’s in front of you. Designate a office area or room in the house away from these distractions. Focus and work in your office according to your schedule and resort to the tv and other entertainment when you are “off work”.

Exercise and healthy eating

People working from home can often pick up bad habits. Sleeping in, eating late, skipping meals, etc. One of the greatest stress relievers is exercise and healthy eating. Remember to still give yourself adequate time to eat and your body proper exercises. Even a walk around the block and some fresh air can do wonders. You will find it will keep your body in shape and will allow you to reflect on the day’s activities and think more clearly.
Having an online home business and working from home is like any business and requires time and money which can lead to financial pressure and time management stress. Hopefully these tips can help you manage your stress when working from home.

Got a Teen? Maybe It’s Time to Think About a Work at Home Job

Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by admin.

By Dave Britton

Most parents think that it’s most important to work at home when their children are young. It’s an effort to be there during your child’s formative years, to see those first steps, to give them the guidance you feel is needed to have a happy, thriving child.

That’s not necessarily incorrect, but parents really should consider working at home when their children hit the teen-age years. Why? Because a 14-year-old is too old for day care, too old for a baby sitter, and way old enough to get into some serious trouble. Statistics show that teen-agers are far more likely to engage in illegal activities and invite unwanted friends over the house including members of the opposite sex (that’s despite rules to the contrary) between the hours of 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Why? Because that’s when they are alone to do whatever they want.

Historically, kids who are left alone after school are called latchkey kids. Studies have shown such kids are often asked to do things, such as provide childcare for younger siblings, clean, cook, etc., that they are not emotionally ready to handle. Although teens will rarely complain about being alone after school, many don’t like it or are even frightened to enter an empty house.

It’s tough for parents, who are grateful to finally have a child old enough to not need constant supervision. The truth is, it doesn’t matter how mature your child is or how well-behaved, if you’re not home, the chances of them doing something you don’t want them to is greatly increased. Teen-agers simply don’t have the reasoning skills they need to cope with some of the temptations they’ll face when unsupervised.

But if you work at home, even if you’re not directly supervising your child, your mere presence will prevent them from doing things they shouldn’t.

Another thing to consider is that kids don’t really want to be alone. They want a parent there. It’s comforting to them to have mom or dad home when they get back from school. If something bad or good happened at school, there is someone there for them to talk to.
Pure economics can make staying at home difficult. But today, with the ability to telecommute and the number of Internet-based home businesses, parents have more options than they did just a few years ago. If you have a job, ask your employer if you can work from home in the afternoons. Or consider starting a home-based business, as thousands of people have done.
If you have a teen-ager, it may just be the best decision you’ll make.

Home-Based Marketers Need an Effective Plan

Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by admin.

by Dave Britton

You don’t need thousands of dollars to create and implement a marketing plan that will turn your home-based business into a financial success
What you do need, however, is an effective plan to get people to your website. Because, in the end, how successful your home-based marketing business is, is directly tied to the number of prospects you get to your site, and the number who stick around long enough to buy your product.

The first thing an Internet marketer needs is an effective website. Many online businesses come with websites that you can customize, but others are cookie-cutter opt-in pages. There’s nothing wrong with either as long as they are effective at keeping people around long enough to get excited about the product you are selling.

Most people don’t like to fill out lengthy forms to get more information. The simpler the form, the less information requested, the more likely you are to get someone to sign up for more information or a newsletter. Make certain your form clearly states what the person is signing up for, be it for more information or a newsletter.

Once you have your website up, now comes the challenge of getting customers to your site. Whether your site is an e-commerce site, a blog, or an affiliate marketing website, the name of the game is traffic. The more people who visit your site, the more money you’ll have in your pocket.

E-mail marketing is still one of the most effective ways to market your business—and the only thing you need for this is time. Some people do pay for e-mail lists, but it’s always best to create your own mailing lists. This can take time, but can be a more cost-effective marketing tool. If you buy an e-mail list, even if it’s “targeted,” chances are someone else has already bought that list and the recipient has had it with what they now consider “spam.”
Other traditional marketing methods, such as issuing press releases, social networking, submitting articles, and blogging are tried-and-true ways to bring more traffic to your website. While most home-based businesses don’t have the money for advertising, it’s always a good idea to set aside some profits and build an advertising account.

Don’t give up on any marketing scheme if it doesn’t immediately bring in tons of traffic, but after a time, a method that doesn’t work likely won’t ever work, and should be abandoned. In the end, be tenacious, try different things, tossing out what doesn’t work and keeping what does.

How to Get Affiliate Marketing Sales Commissions

Posted on 02. Apr, 2010 by admin.

Affiliate programs make it so easy for you to start an affiliate marketing sales business.  All you need to do is complete an application in order to begin.  Some are even free to join, however usually have more benefits if you upgrade and pay a small monthly fee.

As soon as your application is processed, you receive a ready-made web page with your own affiliate ID embedded. Often they will also provide banners and other graphics to help you promote your business, and some documentation to help you get started with marketing.

The affiliate program will also handle your sales transactions and any customer service associated with your sales. They will account for your commissions and send you a payment.  This leaves you free to do your part, which is promoting your business.

All you need to do to get affiliate marketing sales is market and advertise your web page, banners and affiliate ID aggressively and consistently over time.  Just like real life – work for money.

However this appears to be the sticking point for some. Some feel that just by virtue of becoming a member of a program and having a web page that they are now entitled to become automatically wealthy, ideally within a week.

They want to believe that people are making money hand over fist by a magical process that happens on the Internet.  Hence, unfortunately they do not take the action necessary or at least do not take enough action to succeed in making affiliate marketing sales.

If and when they do realize that they need to do some work, they will make a half-hearted attempt now and then, however when they don’t see any results from this, they will often throw up their hands and quit.  They would rather just fail than give it more effort to see what might happen.  Often they will also pronounce the program does not work or even that it is a scam.

This is really one of those ‘you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink’ stories.  It’s really kind of a sad story at that.  What a waste.  With some realistic and logical thinking, a dash of discipline and motivation and learning a few marketing skills, no telling how successful this same person in this same exact program may have become.

Home-Based Businesses Should Be a Team Effort

Posted on 29. Mar, 2010 by admin.

There is, perhaps, nothing worse than being excited about starting a new venture and having your spouse not support your decision. That’s why it’s so important for your home-based business to be a family affair.

If everyone in your family is excited about your new business, your chances of success are far greater. When things are good, everyone can celebrate the success, and when things go sour, there will be people around boosting your confidence and thinking about other strategies.

Traditionally, a family-owned business was called a “mom-and-pop” business. This cozy term indicated a small business that the spouses worked together on. Years ago, it was much more common for couples to work together than now, but that trend seems to be changing. Just because we’re in a world of high technology and Internet-based businesses doesn’t mean we have to lose that “mom-and-pop” mentality that created so many successful small business owners.

Men and women can work as a team, each taking a side of the business that they are comfortable with. If one person likes to write, they can be the ones writing the press releases, blogging, or conducting article marketing. If one is the schmoozer, they can be the one taking care of the downline or the person-to-person aspects of the business.
Once you recognize each others strengths and weaknesses, you can create a division of labor that works for you. Experts say this “separation of duties” is extremely important, not only for the business, but also for the personal relationship.

This team mentality is vital to the success of your Internet marketing business. Not only does working as a team create a better business, it can also create a better personal relationship. Many couples make the decision to go into business together because they found that, after marriage, they hardly saw each other. Working together is one solution to finding more time to spend together.

The number of couples in business together stood at 1.2 million in 2003, and most people believe that number has continued to grow. In fact, about one in five small businesses today are being operated by couples. That number probably doesn’t factor in those couples who work at home together in an Internet marketing business.

The couples who work best together understand the family is working toward a common goal and are both 100 percent engaged in the business’s success. For home-base businesses to be a real success, it must be a team effort.

Avoid Work at Home Business Scams

Posted on 28. Mar, 2010 by support.

Working from the comfort of your own home can be a wonderful thing. Many people choose to leave the daily grind of working for a large company or for a boss to work for themselves, right out of their house. Unfortunately, scams abound in the work at home business fields, so it is important to be wary when looking into these types of jobs and know what to look for.

You’ve probably seen the ads all over the Internet offering hundreds of dollars a day for little work. These are usually too good to be true, and if you think it is, then they probably are. Skip on these offers as they are a waste of time to even look at. While you can make plenty of money online, it still takes an effort on your part and hard work.

You should never give money to a company to work for them. Any business that asks for money before you can become part of the team is more than likely a scam. Companies should want to hire you and train you to work, and give you the paycheck. Once in awhile, there are legitimate reasons to pay for work, such as a start-up kit for a sales job or a fee for a criminal background check. Research any company that asks for any money from you first.

Never give out your personal information before you are sure that the job is legitimate. This includes you address, phone number, social security number and banking information. Never give your debit or credit card information to a company, either. If you are uncertain of an opportunity that you have come across, research the company thoroughly. The Better Business Bureau online is a great starting point to find out the legitimacy of a company.

Ask the company for any references or current employees that you can speak to. Being able to talk to someone who is currently or has worked for the company can give you a lot of information you won’t find elsewhere. While the company cannot just give out the personal information of any and every employee, they should have someone who can talk to you one on one and help answer questions you have about the company.

The most important thing is to do your research when you are looking into a work at home business. Type the company you are considering into multiple search engines to see what comes up. Check the BBB. Read reviews and complaints that have been written about the company. With the right research, you can find a work at home job that is both legitimate and lucrative!

Work at Home Business: Three Things You Need to Know in Order to Succeed

Posted on 28. Mar, 2010 by support.

0

When deciding whether or not to embark on the endeavor of a work at home business, you have to look at a few things first. These opportunities are one of the top 10 scams in the United States, and there are ways to verify if this is a legitimate opportunity or not.

This is the first thing you should know. Yes, we have all seen the advertisements on television, the internet and even our local newspapers for the opportunity to work from home and get rich. To be honest with you, the only ones getting rich from these opportunities are the ones that you are sending your money to. As with any other job, the company should pay you. You should not have to pay them for a list or something of the sort. If you are sending them money, they are getting paid, not you. And we have all worked very hard for the money that we already have, so why give it away? There are numerous places to find out if the company that you are looking to work for is a legitimate company. You should always contact your local Better Business Bureau first and then you can do a little research on the internet. Yes, this will take some time, but trust me; it will save you a lot of effort and heartache in the end.

Secondly, when looking for a work at home business you have to ask yourself what you are really willing to sacrifice. I know, they promise all sorts of free time and leisure opportunities in their advertisements, but you will have to sacrifice some things. You need to find out if what they are paying to do is worth your time for starters. If you work for pennies and hour, what are you really gaining? Yes, you will have extra income, but at what cost? The potential is there, don’t get me wrong, but you will need to find a way to re-organize your schedule and make time for the job as there are most certainly deadlines.

We have briefly visited just a few of the pros and cons of the work at home business that you are looking into and we can summarize by narrowing your decision down to three basic questions: Is this a legitimate business or a fly by night scam? Only you can decide if you are willing to take the risk of not doing the research first. Secondly, how much time will I really have to give to make this a successful venture? You may have to be up late at night sometimes to make this work, especially if your time management hasn’t afforded you the appropriate balance of work and free time in your life. And last, but surely not least, how soon will you be able to reap the rewards of this opportunity? Will you have to put long hours in over several weeks before you start to see any significant income? Just remember these 3 key questions when deciding whether or not to start the opportunity.
